Face To Frame
Affordable Art Fair
A creative AI experience for the Affordable Art Fair in London, transforming guests into classical, old master style portrait paintings.
Brief
For the Affordable Art Fair's autumn event at Battersea Evolution in London, we partnered with their team to create an engaging content experience for guests to use during the private view and fair. As part of their 25 year anniversary celebrations, Affordable Art Fair wanted a to offer a photo experience that was both forward thinking and creative, that captured the magic of the art world. The activation needed to fit seamlessly into the main atrium space of the fair and be able to cope with the high number of attendees during the Private View and Saturday opening hours.
Idea
We created Face to Frame, an AI experience combining advanced facial recognition software, sophisticated special effects technology and image manipulation. This state of the art tech transformed guests into classical, old master-style paintings at just the touch of a button. We designed an accessible, custom booth to house the Face To Frame capture station. On the exterior we showed the Face To Frame title, Affordable Art Fair logos and experience information, with an external display screen showing the AI portraits and two sharing stations. Upon entering the physical booth, guests were guided by hosts to choose from the inclusive range of classical portraits created by Affordable Art Fair. They then captured their photo and were directed to the next set of hosts at our sharing stations to view their personal AI painting, choosing to send it to themselves either by email or text message. Not only was the content an effective way of capturing data but also an exciting and creative, free content offering for guests.
Results
Face To Frame was available for guests to use on both the Private View evening and throughout the Saturday of the fair. The booth was in use 100% of its opening hours and many of the guests queued to try the booth more than once. For over 75% of guests this was their first time experiencing AI art, with 97% of guests enjoying the experience and downloading the content to share.
Situated in the entrance atrium it was a main attraction with high visibility, creating a buzz before guests had entered the main event space. Over 720 guests used the booth across one and a half days with an estimated reach of over 201,000 and over 260,000 impressions.
